Millions of views on 1-minute long videos about reviews, people crying about endings of their favourite books, TikTok has made reading fun again.

If this hashtag doesn’t ring a bell to you, you should start scrolling more on TikTok.

The newest en vogue app has now created its own community of readers under the name #booktok, where millions of readers all around the world are able to share on what’s happening, what’s going on in their minds as they read and give recommendations about the most trendy books lately.

Considered a nerd thing and not fun to do activity, reading was abandoned by teenagers for a long while and replaced by tv shows and movies.

However, with the boom of the app and its influence on teenagers and younger audiences, reading has quickly become trendier again.

Many users have become famous thanks to the trend and built a community over it, but also helped boost sales for the authors of most books read by the community.

For instance, authors such as Colleen Hoover with It Starts With Us, or Taylor Jenkins Reid with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo have turned into bestselling novelists for Young Adults romances according to the New York Times, all thanks to booktokers.
